MORE SOUNDS: Planes, Trains, Trucks, and More Trains

I think my enormous success with this month’s “Colorful Sounds” challenge can be attributed to two things: My acute sense of hearing and my incredible luck.

I’m pretty sure the hearing thing comes from many years of exercising my eardrums at rock concerts, in the Greg Room in front of my loudspeakers, and blasting loud music through my headphones while mowing the lawn and shoveling my driveway. Heavy duty listening is to the ears as cycling and weight-lifting is to the muscles. I THINK that’s how it works.

The incredible luck comes from being a nice guy. Being nice comes naturally to me. I think it was Moses–maybe somewhere in “Leviticus”–who said, “Nice guys get all the luck.” Or was it Aristotle who said that? I can’t remember.

Whatever the reason, I clearly have the highest Listening Average in Cycle365 League history. In fact, I have recently put up so many sounds on YouTube that I might soon become what they call an “Influencer.” I can’t imagine what I’ll influence people to do, but there is no denying that some of my videos have more than 10-12 views. Can you say “VIRAL?”

Well, let’s get to some of today’s sounds. As you can see from the title, they have a transportation theme.

Planes

Trains

Trucks

More Trains (I got lucky when more pelicans landed among the original ones. Maybe it was a higher power who said “Nice guys get all the luck.” Someone like Jerry Garcia or Frank Zappa.)

I’ll be back with more of my “influencing” very soon.

Some nice sounds there. Didn’t Leviticus say “Nice guys finish last”. I’d better get cracking and start collecting some sounds, toot sweet.

I think the “nice guys finish last” quote came from the Gospel according to Luke. Of course, Luke wasn’t always the most reliable reporter. Anyway, yes, get out there and record a couple of kookaburras or something.

God Dam, we think so alike it’s scary. I’ve recorded a few bird sounds but just missed the Kookaburras going off first thing in the morning, stay posted.

I can honestly say I’ve never seen a tractor trailer outfitted to carry live fish.
Great assemblage of sounds, particularly the Gloppiting CP EMD’s.
Hastings is becoming the Gloppita Gloppita capital of MN.

That was my first sighting of a fish semi-trailer-truck too. It was quite coincidental after I had just posted that fish netting thing a couple days before.

And I have become very tuned in to Gloppita-Gloppita sounds thanks to you.

OK. I’m feeling seriously guilty now. I’ll start picking up my ears.

You SHOULD be feeling guilty. After all, you’re the one who came up with this excellent idea.
