Morning Spin

After heavy overnight rain I managed to get out for a couple of hours.

First stop was by the Thames at Abingdon.

This is Abingdon Bridge, the reverse angle from last weeks photo which was taken from where the blue van is waiting in traffic.

From here it was onto Sunningwell where the lovely weeping willow caught my eye.

As it just happened to be next to the village pond was a bonus.

From Sunningwell it was out through the lanes and backroads back home in time for lunch and an afternoon visit from three grand daughters. A very enjoyable day.

    Thanks for the photos!
Weeping willow is a beautiful tree
Are ponds a fairly common thing in people’s gardens?
Glad you had a nice ride and great day with your grand
    daughters.

Did you once mention you worked at the Mini plant?
I watched James May’s video about how Mini’s are made — absolutely fascinating!!

I was surprised the willow still had so many leaves on it.
That is the village pond fed via a small stream from the line of hills away to the rear of the properties. The hedge and the wall to the rear of the pond are the boundary for the cottage behind and the Art School to the right.
Rich, you have a most excellent memory, yes I did work at the car plant, owned by British Leyland Motor Corporation at the time, I left there in the mid 70’s having served my apprenticeships there from 1968 onwards, Automation of the plant was just being increased as I left as new models of cars were being developed.
