MY Cycling Pet Peeves

Maybe I’m not as much of an easy-going, laid back kind of guy as I claimed yesterday. Today’s ride revealed that I have more pet peeves than I thought. I sure hope this batch of them are the last ones I’ll have to post for this challenge. I do NOT want to get a reputation as being a grumpy old man.

I hate riding underneath walnut trees this time of year.

I hated this on two levels: 1) Getting my ears pierced by a screaming siren is a pet peeve of mine. 2) Knowing that somebody has to be rushed to the hospital is also a pet peeve of mine.

A major pet peeve is a bike trail with expansion cracks every 10 yards. It’s a fact of life here in Minnesota though, so you’d think I’d get used to it.

I do not like when dog-walkers don’t pick up after their dogs–especially when the dog does its business on the bike trail.

Perhaps even more of a peeve is when the dog walker actually DOES pick up the excrement, and then litters the bag. That’s CRAZY, yet I see it all the time.

A defaced road sign is another one of my pet peeves. The sticker on this sign is particularly egregious–not necessarily because of the message, but because of the “news” source it promotes. Can there be a bigger media virus than Alex Jones’ “Infowars.com”?

Bumper stickers placed on a stop sign are a pet peeve, but partially tearing the sticker off of a Garceau is unforgivable.

All very good pet peeves and no one will disagree with you on any of them.
Seems to be a noted lack of walnuts here this year — last year we were carpet bombed with them — so I know what you mean.
The dog poo and discarded bag — totally agree — in the park here there are dispensers for poo bags, which are often times empty —-> pet peeve there.
Bone shaking bicycle destroying cracks in the pavement — BIG pet peeve.
Now the Garceau I generally agree, except, I would have liked one from the Inauguration in DC back in ’17 — They were from Don’s Johns rental. 🙂
You are a long way from being a curmudgeon — right on brother, right on!!

I’ve seen a lot of creative names for companies that provide porta-potties. Don’s Johns is a pretty good one. I’m thinking I should start such a company. I could call it “Garceau’s Garceaus.” But I’ll wait until the term “Garceau” becomes known world-wide.

A porta-potty company here is called ‘toi toi toi’ which I think is a good one. Toi toi toi means wishing you good luck.
