New Bike Day!
Today is New Bike Day! This is my brand new Salsa Fargo, which will hopefully allow me to tackle even more of our chunky gravel roads. Because of the current pandemic-induced global bike shortage, I ended up buying this bike from a shop up in northern Vermont, about 180 miles away. So today was mostly spent in the car. Fortunately, spring is in the air, so it was a great day for a long drive. 50 degrees (F) here, with more of the same expected tomorrow, so I’m hoping to get out for a real ride then.

Hmmm, I remember handing out chocolate cigars when my kids were born. That might still work.

Thanks! Lots of little fit tweaks since that photo was taken. Bars a little lower, saddle a little higher. All in all, a comfortable ride. Looking forward to lots of bumpy miles.

Yes, 29 inch wheels. Those tires are 29×2.2, for a nice cushioned ride on rough roads and trails. Of course, I won’t be winning any races against the road bike guys, but that wasn’t gonna happen anyway.

Yup, better than birthdays! Except New Bike Day only seems to happen every five or six years.
