New version of the website?

Nancy reports that something has changed about the website, and that she had to relearn how to add photos.  I haven’t seen this, but maybe it’s because I’m still using the classic editor because I’m too lazy to retrain myself.

Rachael said she had to upgrade the website to the latest version before she could install the new backup system, so perhaps some new or changed features came in.  If you have any issues with it or observations about what’s different, please speak up.  Not that it will change anything – we won’t be moving back to a prior release of the software.

I noticed that when I read someone’s post, there are no arrows to go to the previous or later entry. I have to hit home and then scroll down. Anyone else recognize this problem?

Yes, I used to just click Next post” or “Previous Post” at the bottom of the page to flick through them all and catch up all in one go. A bit annoying to have to go back to the home page each time, but not the end of the world.

That’s so strange. Rachael had mentioned this also, and I didn’t know what she was talking about. I’d never noticed the functionality. I can’t see anything controlling this, so maybe it’s a big in the newest release. I’ll keeep an eye out for upgrades that might address it.

I did notice a small difference while using the BLOCK editor, which I really like. But it was nothing I couldn’t figure out.

My bigger issue is that I still don’t get e-mail notifications of comments to my posts. I know this has been mentioned in the past. If those notifications don’t exist anymore I’m okay with just checking back every once in a while, but they did make things a lot easier.

It looks to me that the native WordPress product does not provide for email notifications back to the initiators of comments. I think there is a plug-in available to enhance it to enable this, but I’m not clear how well this works or what issues we’ll have with it. I’ll try installing it and if you don’t mind I’ll use you or Doris as a guinea pig to test o7t how well it works.

But then you may not know I’m doing this, because you won’t get an email about this comment. So watch this space.

I am notified of comments on my own posts but never on follow up comments. Sort of a nuisance to check back through all the posts where I made a comment and might have gotten an answer. I hope there is a plug-in for this because it would be great!!!

I get emails for comments on my posts. The BLOCK editor is what aI think I mentioned, and instead of that ‘block’ there is now a plus sign to activate your choice. Easy enough to figure it out. Not sure about the arrows that Suzanne mentions. Guess I have not used that feature.
