No Sounds, Maybe a Little Kodachrome

Got out for a nice little ride today that included the West River Trail and passed by the Marina, a local restaurant that sits at the confluence of the West River and Connecticut River. It’s a popular spot not only for dining, but also putting in your boat or kayak for some water fun. No sounds here, but perhaps a few colors that might qualify for the extended Kodachrome challenge.

Some colorful chairs in the waiting area outside the restaurant
Some colorful kayaks just waiting to be put in the water

I can hardly fault you for the lack of sounds, Mr. inVT. How well have I been doing myself, after all? Certainly colorful enough though.

Say – if a person found themselves along Lake Champlain and was keen on biking to Brattleboro, what route might you recommend, just asking for a friend.

Yeah, the sound challenge has definitely been more challenging than I first expected. As to your friend, they might consider something like this: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35771471 . There are some variations on this that hug the NY VT border more and might have more water views, but I do recommend getting to Middlebury. It’s an interesting town, what with the college and all. We can certainly talk more about this offline if you want. I mean your friend of course.

And I meant to add, there will definitely be significant climbing on this route, including a killer hill coming out of Manchester. You can’t really get around the fact that you have to get over the Green Mountains one way or another.

That looked like the natural route to me also. I did notice there was a hill on the way, but was hoping there was a rails to trails conversion with a large tunnel that I was missing. Hmm.

No, there’s no magical mystery tunnels I’m afraid. An interesting alternative would be to head directly east from Middlebury and connect up to Route 100, which is a scenic byway. It is scenic, but also probably more car traffic, and unfortunately has at least as much elevation gain.

It ‘sounds’ like parts of VT are in for some fairly serious snow tomorrow.
Enjoyed the photos, good you got out for a ride.

Currently just seems like it will be cold and rainy for us, although we did have snow a few days ago. Yes, it was nice to get out.

Nice ride and pictures – doesn’t look any more like spring in Vermont than it does here. But you found nice color. Glad you reminded me that we are still doing Kodachrome! I haven’t recorded any sounds yet – and may never get around to it. 🙂

It’s perhaps a little more spring-like than those photos show. We’ve got some flowers up and I’m starting to see buds on some of the trees, but yes spring doesn’t really kick in until May around here.

Judging by the size of those bobbers, it looks like Vermont has even bigger fish than Minnesota.

Well, I’m sure that can’t be right. I’ve seen pictures of those Minnesota fish!

Loved all your photos, and the colors are winners for any challenge. Good finds there Bob.
