Red Rock

Whenever I approach Lone Pine from the south, I always pass Red Rock State Park, not to be confused with Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area outside of Las Vegas.

Today I was making good time driving up Highway 14 to Lone Pine and in no particular hurry, so I decided to stop at the state park—something I’ve never done before—and see about going for a short ride.

Well worth dragging your bike up those rocks – great pictures. Love the perspective on the featured one.

Thanks, but either I need to build upper-body muscle, or else the Ogre needs to lose weight!

By the way, this is the first in a series of “not previously photographed by me” posts from rides while based in Lone Pine for a few days. Not sure when I’ll catch up with all those. Meanwhile, previews here:

You are too modest, we ‘know’ you rode the Ogre up there for the photos, Danny Macaskill has nothing on you. 🙂

Beautiful photos — apparently Red Rock Canyon has been the site of many movies and commercials.

Side note: 5 people in Vermilion county who HAD been vaccinated are now testing + for Covid . . . .

Another fine spot you’ve gotten yourself into! Really, Red Rock State Park looks like a fine spot.

I might decide to stop there again when the weather is more inviting and I’m actually prepared for a ride. There’s a lot more to the park than the little sliver I explored.
