Scenes From MY Town’s Trails

Not only will I be displaying scenes FROM the trails, there will also be photos OF the trails themselves. What more could anybody ask for?

My New Year’s resolution this year, as it has been every year since about 1990, was to ride my bike on the first day of the year. Beyond that, I have no other hard & fast resolutions. (Though I do have a secondary resolution to start eating at least a LITTLE bit healthier. You would not believe how terrible my diet is.)

At 29-degrees, this New Year’s Day was 28-degrees warmer than last year. It was kind of nice, actually. I was pleased to head off for a ride on MY Town’s biking/hiking trails. I was sure I’d have them all to myself. I was wrong. I saw several walkers and joggers.

On the way to the closest trail, I saw this failed attempt at developing a new kind of snowmobile.

The Vermillion River gorge

This time of the year, the colors are mostly black, white and brown. It was nice to capture something a little brighter.

In Minnesota, people can build hockey rinks on any body of water.

Hi. My name is Greg and I ride my bike a lot. That is to say, I ride my bike almost every day. I go on long rides and short rides. Sunny rides, cloudy rides, and rainy rides. I like commuting, errand-running, day-tripping, overnighting, and touring on my bike. I ride on city streets, highways, gravel, single track, and snow with equal enthusiasm. Sometimes I ride fast and sometimes I ride slow. I try to keep my feet on the pedals at stop lights and I do not dismount when I hop up on a curb. I have a roadie bike, a mountain bike and a touring bike. I try to accept any challenge a bike ride can throw at me without complaint. But I don't like bugs.

Greg, great first ride of the year, would be good to re-run in six months time as a comparison.

Pretty sure that is Suzanne in the red coat.
I rode too, but no photos of barren corn fields.

    Nice trails! I’m envious!

Nice to see the trails covered or partially covered with snow. I too ride the first day of the year. but not for as long as you have. AND your resolutions resound with me! I try to not make actual resolutions that always fail by February, but do have. a couple of goals to meet. One of them is to be more “aware” of what i am eating by slowing down to taste and enjoy it!

Your trails look in much better shape than ours. Does somebody actually plow them? And by the way, I have that same ‘eating healthier’ resolution myself.

Greg, if you’ve ever seen Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie in Don’t Look Now, you’ll know to avoid that red coat in the distance.
