SOME Bs IN MORRO BAY
Have not had much riding opportunity these past couple of days, but we are having a great time visiting with our friends. Yesterday they led us from their house in Cayucos to the small town of Morro Bay where Susan and I got in a short but nice ride. Before starting our ride we had a stop at the French Bakery for ”tea & crumpet”.

We passed by Beaches along Morrow Bay.

Saw these Boats moored by the Big (Morrow) Rock.

On our return, be passed and did not stop at the Brewery.

We extended our ride up a few streets to make it a short but not a very short ride, to the State Park Campground just for a look, and then headed back to meet our friends at the park. Nice day of course with nothing but sunshine and deep blue sky.

Ah, the Central Coast! Lovely place. I recommend a ride from Cambria to San Simeon.

This truly is a beautiful place. Thanks for the recommendation for a ride, but our time is up here so perhaps next time I can get to do that. It that the ride along Rte 1? Yesterday our friends drove us up to see the Elephant Seals (spectacular) and we drove thru San Simeon not time for a tour of Hearst Castle (which i have done decades ago). Nice shoulder on the highway so I fee that would be a safe and good ride. We return to Elk Grove this morning for one night before making our way home.
I’m glad you got to see that stretch of Hwy 1 by car, even if pedaling it didn’t work out this time. Maybe next time. Beautiful scenery. Lots of interesting stuff. Wide shoulders. I think I’ve done it three times. Maybe four. Always felt very safe. Always an enjoyable ride. But almost always a steady wind out of the north. Have fun in Elk Grove.
I will plan to do that ride the next time we are here, and we liked the area and our new friends well enough to think we will return ?.
Nice collection of more B’s — Morrow Rock is particularly interesting.
I doubt there is a story behind Morro Rock, but it does seem to be the center of attraction for Morro Bay.
My buddy Cap’n Will is originally from Morro Bay. He has plenty of stories to tell about the Rock (and environs). Mostly they can’t be related here.

Thanks, Bill, interesting article.
And I will learn how to spell Morro — maybe tomorro. 🙂
Well, I guess there IS a story behind that rock. Thanks Bill. I guess I could have done a search, but you did for me ;’-).
Beautiful!
