Some more straggling letters

On Thursday it wasn’t exactly what you would call beautiful weather, but it was much warmer than the past weeks. The temperatures rose to 5C/41F which felt quite pleasant. I picked up a few miscellaneous letters, although not a Q in the bunch, on my late afternoon ride. I didn’t get out early enough for a longer ride, just rode some familiar paths near home for a breath of fresh air.

Riding the road through Buchendorf on the way to the forest in Forstenrider Park, I saw that they had been doing some serious logging. I have never seen lumber piled up here before and in the forest I could hear the heavy machines at work as they felled new trees and dragged them out. The logging equipment used in the forest tears up the trails and we have noticed that many of the trails we often ride have become muddier and have more ruts. I understand that lumber prices are high now, so no wonder there is excessive logging going on. It’s legal, but I always hate to see it.

S-tacks of logs on this normally clean, hard-packed dirt road that we ride frequently.

I too hate to see the logging the causes clear cuts in the forests and rutted paths. Seems we are all overusing wood and soon could be suffering the loss of way too many trees. Let’s try bamboo for more than we use it and use wood only when necessary say I.

Very neatly arranged stacks of wood!
