Sunday Morning Ride

I woke up Sunday morning feeling extra refreshed from that bonus hour of sleep, so decided it would be a great day for an early morning ride. It was a beautiful clear, sunny morning but cold, with the temperature around 29F/-2C. I decided the best plan was a mostly gravel road ride up on the hills behind our house. For some reason, I haven’t ridden up here much this year. There’s lots of climbing on this route, so if nothing else, I figured that would help me stay warm.

Here’s a few pictures from the ride.

On Pleasant Valley Rd. Our house is down in that valley and that little hump over my bike is Black Mountain, which is a great hike
The next hill to climb. Still early so lots of long shadows
A local radio station has it’s transmitter up here. On Strava, the climb up to this spot is called Antenna Hill
We’ve still got some pretty nice color
This ride took me by that same brook I had showed in a video in a previous post. It’s a bit calmer today, but still more water than usual

Vermont’s mountains and forests are almost as nice as Germany’s. Almost. But you might have them beat in the categories of “babbling brooks” and “tall antennas.” (Antennae?)

I’m pretty sure Germany is the clear winner in the nice mountain competition. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had some babbling brooks as well.

Nice ride! Good for you for getting out in the sun in spite of the below freezing temperature… Brrrr!

Thanks! And as it is with many things, it’s really a matter of making yourself get started. Once you get moving, it’s fine. And after those cold temps on Sunday, today we had a high of 64F/17C. But cold weather and rain returns in just a day or two.

A little nippy, BUT, if we had to wait for perfect weather we would into hot air ballooning.
    Beautiful scenery!

Yes indeed. And it helps to remind myself that in a month or two, I’ll be really happy when the temp gets up to the freezing point.

Pretty location. Always wanted to look around New England after watching the movies Witches of Eastwick and Funny Farm. I’ll post some summer photos to warm you up, visually anyway.

Ah Funny Farm. I wouldn’t want to say its portrayal of Vermonters is accurate but, well… it kind of is. Filmed right up the road in Townshend by the way. But before my time living here.
