The Collection Challenge: a herd of elephant seals

New month!  New challenge!  And for me, a new year.  For my birthday ride we took a ride up the coast to Ragged Point, at the lower end of Big Sur.  Perfect weather, a beautiful ride.  Best of all though was getting to see the elephant seal colony beached at Piedras Blancas.  What a great show!

I think herd is the correct terminology for a collection of elephant seals, is it not?

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

Just when you had me convinced that my collections yesterday were the collections to end all collections, you pull a collection of elephant seals out of your hat. I feel like I’ve been rope-a-doped. You let me get worn out from flailing wildly with boats, railroad workers, ducks, chairs and books, then you pummeled me with a powerful attack of large aquatic mammals. That’s almost as bad as the old hidden ball trick you played on me a few years ago. I am so gullible.

I feel bad. It’s not my fault though: I didn’t put those elephant seals there. Once they were there, they demanded to be photographed.

Hidden ball trick?, what’s that about? I’ve forgotten, which is no big surprise. I forget everything.

That’s the time I was about to be the first to finish one of our challenges and, as I recall, you declared me the winner. Then the very next day you snuck in TWO challenge rides to snatch the victory right out from under me. I wish I could remember exactly what the challenge was though. I just remember you comparing your sneaky maneuver to “the old hidden ball trick.”

What a very nice birthday ride! Hard to beat an elephant seal collection, but I’ve got an interesting entry for this challenge sometime this weekend.
