The Nelson House

There’s some weather in today’s post, but nothing exceptional – just another overcast, coolish day with enough of a break in the rain to lure me out the door for a ride out to Sauvie Island on a crane hunt.  So, not really a February challenge entry.  There are still a few days left to hope for a more dramatic and newsworthy day to submit for this month’s challenge.  Just a moment to mourn the passing of an old friend, the Nelson House.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

Glad your crane hunt was more successful than the time I was asked to go on a snipe hunt in Montana. 😉

That is quite a story about the Nelson house, thanks for providing the link. Sad it came to end as it did.

It’s sad, alright. I think it will be awhile until I’m ready to face riding that road again.

You’re right, it was nice to see the cranes. There were just a few amend pretty far off, but maybe next time we’ll get a better look. No snipes though, sadly.

That house is (was) an incredible sight! I love stuff like that. Shame it is no longer there.

I always think about what peoples’ memories would be of all those crumbling buildings I pass on rides. It’s nice that you could actually read about it but sad that it is now gone. Your Sauvie Island pics look pretty cool, grey and wet… perfect for the birds and those cyclists with the Frequent Rider cards 🙂

Yup. Just two ore trips and I get a free drink at the fruit stand.

Derelict homes would make an interesting theme for the monthly challenge. Where do homeless ghosts go I wonder.

I thought about it as a challenge theme also. Maybe abandoned property of any kind.
