The Poet Laureate of our cycling world

One of the satisfactions of being an administrator for this website is the opportunity to bestow honors for exceptional achievement.  I hereby designate Gregory  Garceau the Poet Laureate for Cycle365.  You may not be aware of the impressive body of work he’s been contributing to over on CycleBlaze, but the Awards Committee felt that his latest composition in response to the featured photo merits special recognition:

Ornithologists are a little dweeby
When they make puns about a phoebe
It can’t help it was born
With a beak like a thorn
(No charge for this poem–it’s a freebie.)

Mr. Garceau isn’t the only noteworthy poet to grace CycleBlaze with their inspirations.  Jen Grumby (partner of our own Mr. Grumby) is a most prolific limericist; and if memory serves correctly, Suzanne has been known to submit an occasional haiku in the past.  I’ve started collecting these in the CycleBlaze Poet’s Corner.  It’s an open forum, so feel free to submit your own contributions if your muse inspires you.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

A well deserved honor for Greg. Poetry is an area where I have zero skills. Although perhaps I could rhyme given lots of time.

Many thanks for creating the poet’s corner! Wonderful! How did I miss out on all that activity over on Cycleblaze. Probably because I read the posts before all the comments were in. I do read all the posts you know. 🙂

It’s easy to miss – the forum doesn’t have as much visibility as it might.

I’m still working my way back through old journals looking for earlier poems to add in, so I’m sure your haikus will turn up eventually.
