Walks and Rides: The April 2021 Edition

We waited … and waited … and waited for the first dandelions, blinding fields of canola, the leaves to bud – and very slowly, almost imperceptibly, a faint green shimmer of growth appeared. We had the coldest April in 40 years. However we did get some very nice days and I rode on 21 days of the month. I walked on the nine days that didn’t look so inviting that I wanted to be out on my bike.

The wettest April in 40 years? We’ve had the opposite situation here in green Portland: the driest April ever recorded here. 0.39” for the entire month. Pretty scary, really. The region could be in for a long, harsh fire season this year.
Oh, and great photos btw. Looks like you made the best of your situation.
Although it was the coldest in 40 years, it wasn’t the wettest. It was too dry here as well.
Great photos!
It was another tough call for the judge, but the award for “Greg’s Favorite Suzanne Picture” for the month of April goes to . . . . . . . . . . . . THE ONE WITH THE BIKE, THE WEATHERED FENCE AND THE DAS GELBE HOUSE!!!!!!!!
Honorable mentions were earned by The Chapel in Lindach, and Stone Cairns On Stump.
Thanks, Greg, for pointing out that the piles of stones are cairns. A little ignorant of me not to know. These here seem to be recreational cairns and not trail markers. It does seem to be a fad now.
Awww and I thought it was a cairn left by Hansel and Gretel when they ran out bread crumbs.
Great photos as always, the gnarly tree especially.
Great photos! It does look cold, especially in those walking pictures.
Photos are (of course) beautiful. We have had a good month of April, and now just a bit of rain.
