Watery Ride

Just a few photo’s from yesterday’s ride, forgot to take the camera this morning.

This is Drayton 1066, as it is meant to be seen.

Can’t get far enough away to get the whole expanse in.

This is Appleford Gravel Pits, another local bird watching haven.

The ride to be a very quick 12 miler as I had to get back home in time for visiting grand daughters.

Happy Christmas to all, and keep it rubber side down.

I’ve learned a lot about climate from reading about bicycling in other countries. One of those things is that north-ness doesn’t necessarily equate to coldness and snowiness. England is further north than Minnesota, yet you’ve still got a lot of green in your pics.

The UK is blessed to be in tract of the Gulf Stream, bringing to our shores warm air and water. Can’t ever remember the seas around our coasts freezing.
There are of course exceptions to this rule, whereby cold air will come from the Artic or mainland Europe, then we will receive a dumping of snow.

    Good to see liquid water!
Our latest round of cold came over the pole from Siberia — temps in MN and IL were very similar. Supposedly warming into the 50’s by the end of the week.
Oceans and warm water currents are a good thing to have upstream of incoming air masses!

Hope you and grand daughters and all had a great Christmas.

Yes, it must be a while since you’ve seen open water.
We’ve been seeing what you’ve been having to put up with on our news outlets, don’t envy you at all.
We had a very nice afternoon with them, two pairs of sisters, we don’t get to see them together very often.
Hope you and yours have had an equally good time.
Stay safe and hope the warmer weather reaches you soon.
