Weather Report – November 10 – 12

We have been having some fairly decent weather for riding, that is to say days when it has been possible. On some days I feel I can embrace cold weather, other days not, and it doesn’t necessarily depend on the thermometer readings, sunny skies or overcast.

Wednesday November 10, temperature at the usual 6C/43F, we had some errands to do in Gräfelfing, about 10 km down the road. Once we were there Janos had a puncture and was in no mood to take off the rear wheel then and there. Instead we went for lunch and made a plan for picking up the bike with the car. Fortunately, we were close to a bus line and not in the middle of nowhere. Janos was home within half an hour with just one change of buses. I continued on my planned route home through the woods alone.

I stopped for a couple of pictures and Janos beat me home, not by much though.

Thursday November 11, a beautiful sunny day and I had to go to Munich. It was cold enough that I didn’t feel like cycling into town so I didn’t get on my bike until late afternoon. It was still pleasant, around 10C/50F, but you could feel the chill come as the sun went down.

Friday November 12, that’s today, it’s been fog all day long, 3C/37F. First thing this morning I was off to my doctor’s for my Covid booster shot. Yay!

Actually too cold for comfort but we packed up our tripods for a little camera time down the road near the Würm. I probably spent more time getting my layers on than cycling. As always, it was good to get out.

A foggy day
Starting to look a lot like winter along the Würm
Still a lot of russet in the woods

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Another great group of photos, even the semi Monochromatic MN/IL ones 🙂

I carry a can of the Fix a Flat type stuff for bicycles, never had to use it, and hope I never do.
Good thing Janos wasn’t completely stranded.

If push comes to shove weather wise, you could always post a photo of your bicycle in the garage door. 🙂

    Great pictures! Love the reflectie.

In Sonoma County I seldom need to consider it, but for those of you who live in cold weather I know from past experience the prospect of a flat tire in sub-freezing temperatures can be enough to inhibit riding. Sitting in a snowbank trying to fix a puncture with frozen fingers is not my idea of a pleasant ride!
