Weather Report – November 9

My tolerance for cold is being tested. This morning it was 1C/34F and foggy when I left for my tai chi class. I got there feeling okay, no frozen toes or fingers! Very proud of myself. When I came out of class at eleven, the sun was shining and 6C/43F felt wonderful. I didn’t stop for any pictures on the way to class nor on the way home. So I went out for a short ride in the late afternoon with my camera. It felt much colder this time around as the sun was approaching the horizon.

Not many mushrooms left but I found a few on the roadside.
And then we have these giant fungi on a dead tree trunk that are there year round. I am always interested in having another go at photographing them.
Using my tripod and timer, I noticed all of sudden that I was photo bombing my own picture.
Clear cold sky in the evening light – time to get home.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

The ‘shrooms on the tree trunk seem to be smiling. Ah, the good life!

Looks like such a quiet and peaceful place to ride.

It is quiet and peaceful, especially now when most cyclists have locked up their bikes for the cold months. I enjoy being alone on these paths and in the winter begin to think they are mine.

1 celsius is about 3 degrees warmer than my nights in the tent on a recent tour…frigid, 31 Celsius here this weekend, might head to the beach. Fungi is the 3rd life form after plants and animals, Some scientists even believe it came from asteroids.

Random, obscure, not very on topic lyric from a long-forgotten song from about 1970, memory triggered by your second photo:

“The cowboys are sprinkling mycelium, and mushrooms are growing in every new boot print….”
