You Just Never Know Who You Might Run Into

Friday was scheduled to be my last day at my son’s house, so I decided before I left to take one more ride on the local rail trail before heading home. Just north of Millerton, NY, I see a couple of touring cyclists approaching me, riding some sort of interesting looking small-wheeled bikes. They look kind of familiar. They were kind enough to stop for a picture. Can anyone help me identify them?

If you guessed Scooter and Rocky, you would be correct! We had a great visit, riding for a few miles and then stopping for lunch at a trailside diner. Did I remember to take pictures during lunch? Of course not. But I did manage to catch one more picture as they rode off into the sunset. Well, not really sunset. It was in the middle of a warm and muggy afternoon.

And fortunately, I was visiting with people who do remember to take pictures. If you wander over to CycleBlaze, you just might see a few more photos, and perhaps even a video.

Since we ate lunch, and you can sort of see the diner in that second photo, this qualifies as a challenge post.

Scott and Rachael, thanks for meeting up. It was great to finally meet you in person. Have a blast on your tour in Europe. And thanks again for lunch. Next time we meet, dinner is on me.

How cool is that? And perfect “coincidental” timing. Thanks for sharing, Bob. So nice that some more Cyclelifers were able to meet in person. So far I have met seven cyclists from that other site in person: Bill Weir, Laura Roberts, Maun and David Alston, Joe Trudo, Joff Summerfield (penny farthing cyclist) and Chris Lee (from Singapore).

I agree, it was very cool. Someone is going to have to plan the Cycle365 convention someday.

When I saw Scott & Rocky had blown right through Vermont I started thinking there wasn’t going to be another Cycle365-er meet-up. I sure didn’t expect you to catch up to them two states away. Glad you had a good time with them. (Scott didn’t try to pull the old “I think you owe me a beer” trick, did he?)

Well, when they heard I wasn’t going to be in Brattleboro, they decided to do a bit of a route change. Perhaps made their life a bit easier, since they didn’t have to climb over the Green Mountains to get across Vermont. It was just a great experience. As far as the beer thing, no. I’m sure that was an oversight on Scott’s part though.

Man, those two will pedal anywhere in order to get their photos on the Web, won’t they? 😉

Yes indeed. And now we all wait for the next installment.

That is great you got a meet-up with them!
Sounds like a good time, and then off they go onward!

I won’t be holding my breath for a visit by any Cycle365er anytime soon. Boo Hoo. Millerton sounds like a great place for a horror movie, Snake-nado.
